Adventures of 1st Time Parents!!!

Maybe even this blog is too soon because we aren't even parents yet. We had an interesting experience over the weekend. Poor Summer was up all night Saturday having pretty consistent contractions. Mind you this was during the Junior Fall Classic, so we didn't want to go to the hospital. I kept telling her it wasn't real, but she had been having contractions for over 4 straight hours so we went. We got to triage and the first nurse was a grump and a few minutes away from the end of her shift. She checked Summer and said she was a 2 and 80% effaced. The next nurse was really nice and so excited for us. She checked after the first hour and said Summer had progressed to a 3 and 100%. After the next hour everything was the same but the nurse said this baby is for sure coming later that day. She said we could stay or go home and rest for a little bit. We went home. Later that night, Summer had very strong regular contractions for a full hour every two or three minutes. We went back to the hospital. After two hours of regular hard contractions on the monitor, she still wasn't dialating so we came back home. She is doing very well today. At least she gets a few days off from work before the baby comes.

Any Day Now

I am big! Wow now I know how other pregnant ladies feel when they just want to have the baby. I am pretty miserable, especially sleeping. No position is comfortable, I have been having acid reflux, and I have to get up to go to the bathroom at least three times a night. Luckily I feel pretty good during the day. I've been having lots of braxton hicks contractions and I am already dialated to 1. Yea, I'm 1/10th of the way there! I only have two more days of work and then I am have some major preparing to do. My nesting instinct is pretty strong right now. I really want to wash and organize all of the baby's things but keep telling myself just wait until next week. I still feel like she is going to come early. I think she wants out. I only have 20 days until my induction date so we'll see if she makes it until then.

After reading this article, the Salt Lake Lugnuts recruited me to come pitch in the NABA 18+ Wood bat World Series. Apparently they didn't read the Yikes after the pitching comment, becaue that's how it was. 4 1/3 inn., 9 Runs, 3 BB's, 2k's and a very hurt ego. Luckily I found out later the team I faced had flown in over half their team for the playoff round and won it all.

I had my baby shower this Saturday and it was a lot of fun! My sister and Mom threw it for me and did a great job. Isn't the cake just adorable. That was my favorite thing. I got lots of cute clothes for our little girl and can't wait to dress her up. She is going to be so spoiled, especially by her Grandma Tracy. I feel like we are now pretty much ready for her to come, although still a little nervous. I have two more weeks of work and then I am staying home for about two weeks to relax and get ready for baby. Not to mention try to pack up some things in our house before the baby comes. Also, I just found out my doctor is going out of town the week before my due date. We have an appt tomorrow and I'm hoping to finalize an induction date. I'm a planner and just want to know when it will be. Also, Trevor and I have our two year anniversary tomorrow. I don't think we have any plans, except watch Prison Break at home. But we have been celebrating it for the last month so I can't complain. We went to a resort in town over labor day weekend as an early anniversary trip. Maybe he'll get me flowers, hint hint.
