Ship Week

One cool thing about Portland is the navy ships come in and dock in the Willamette River during the rose festival. It is right in the middle of downtown Portland and you can tour the ships for free. We went last Friday and took the tour. It was pretty cool.

Our giant baby

Help! My baby is so big she has outgrown her stroller. Just kidding. Waklee was just pushing her around in her play stroller. She does cause many back aches though. She is now 20 pounds, 11 ounces and 28 inches long. Also, she got two more teeth bringing the count up to 4. They are her top side teeth (fangs?) which I've heard is rare. They usually get their front teeth first. Other than teething she is one happy kid.

Thanks Aunt Janice

Aunt Janice has been very generous lately to our little girl. She got a package today with 5 adorable headbands in it. She is one lucky girl.

Silly Madi

Madi is changing everyday. The faces she makes just cracks me up.

First Mothers Day

This pretty much sums up my feelings on this special Mothers Day. I am so grateful to be a mother to a beautiful daughter.

Before I was a Mom…
I made and ate hot meals.

I had unstained clothing.

I had quiet conversations on the phone.

Before I was a Mom…

I slept as late as I wanted.

And never worried about how late I got

into bed.

I brushed my hair and my teeth every day.

Before I was a Mom…

I cleaned my house each day.

I never tripped over toys or forgot words

to lullabies.

Before I was a Mom…

I didn’t worry whether or not my plants

were poisonous.

I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was Mom…

I had never been puked on,

Pooped on,

Spat on,

Chewed on,

Peed on,

Or pinched by tiny fingers.

Before I was a Mom…

I had complete control of my mind,

My thoughts.

My body,

And my time.

I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom…

I never held down a screaming child,

So that doctors could do tests,

Or give shots.

I never looked into teary eyes and

cried.

I never got gloriously happy over

a simple grin.

I never sat up late hours

at night

Watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom…

I never held a sleeping baby just because.

I didn’t want to put it down.

I never felt my heart break into a million

pieces.

When I couldn’t stop the hurt.

I never knew that I could love someone so much.

I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom…

I didn’t know the feeling of having my

heart outside my body.

I didn’t know how special it could feel to

feed a hungry baby.

I didn’t know that bond between a mother

and her child.

I didn’t know that something so small
Could make me feel so important.

Before I was a Mom…

I had never risen in the middle of the night .

Every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.

I had never known the warmth,

The joy,

The love,

The heartache,

The wonderment,

Or the satisfaction of being a

Mom.

I didn’t know I was capable

of feeling so

Much before I was a Mom!

Multnomah Falls

Saturday we hiked the Multnomah waterfalls. They are so awesome. It was only about 20 minutes from our house. We have to go again.

Chunka-munka

Madi has been eating rice cereal and baby food lately and I think she's gained a few pounds. She loves to eat. Check out her thighs in the stroller pic, they are so chunky. Her new nickname we've been calling her is chunka-munka.

She's also amazingly strong and can bench more than she weighs. J/K!
Sorry for the blurry pictures, I can't figure out my camera.

Child Exploitation

Trevor is running for student body Sports Coordinator position at his school. He decided to use this as his poster.
People at school had mixed reactions. Some thought that wasn't fair to use your kid to get votes. Others thought it was the best idea ever and she was so cute. What do you think? Could you say no to this face?

Twenty Five

Last Friday I turned 25. Wow that sounds really old. I always tell myself that I feel like I am 19 still. In reality, I think I am turning into an old person. For example, my body hurts after I work out which isn't very often. Also, I don't do spontaneous things anymore. Trevor and I haven't been to a late movie in forever. We actually just went to a movie on Saturday afternoon. It had been four months since we had gone. So for my birthday we went to the mall to let me have a little shopping spree. Lately whenever I go to the mall I just hit up the baby stores. This time I was just supposed to be shopping for me. I felt so weird going into the stores I used to with a stroller, diaperbag, and husband in tow. Don't get me wrong I love having a family more than anything. The coolness factor just wasn't quite there. A lot has changed in the past year.

My birthday was great. We hung out at the Church's and had cake. Also, last night we had cake and ice cream with our neighbors the Kunz's. The best part about being 25 is now I can rent a car, have cheaper car insurance, and for the next 17 days, I am older than Trevor. That means I can boss him around, right?

Our Pretty Little Tulip

It was a gorgeous day in Portland today so we decided to go to the Woodburn Tulip Farm. It was so beautiful to see all the colors of tulips imaginable. Days like these make living in Portland great!

Two Kids Later

One fun thing we did in Utah is see my best friend Shelley and her family. She had a baby named Ryker in January and we hadn't seen eachother since before I had Madi so we had to meet each other's kids. She invited me to join her for a mommy and me pilates class but when we showed up it was a Mommy Boot Camp! Needless to say it kicked our butts but we made it through. It was still like old times just with two little ones in tow.

Tremonton!!

Well, we started our first quarter vacation by going to visit Summer's Dad and Step-mom in Tremonton, UT. We had a lot of fun and we went four wheeling from the historic site of golden spike to the beautiful salt lake.(ok so the salt lake is not that beautiful, but we had a lot of fun) We also visited them on the way back and we taught them train game.

Baby Playdate

On Wednesday Madi and I had a fun baby playdate. I picked up Jessica and her daughter Sophia and we went to Rachel's house to play with her 4 month old triplets, Loggan, Tayson, and Benson. It was a lot of fun and surprisingly quiet. Rachel sure knows how to take care of those boys. They were great. Madi and Sophia were so cute together. They'll be little best friends.

Congrats Hassels!

We called up our friends Brooke and Alex to see if we could get together and were so excited when we heard their baby had been born on Wednesday. They let us come and see her on Sunday. She was so cute. I can't believe Madilyn was ever that small. Welcome to the world Hailey!

Fun in Phoenix

We had a great time in Phoenix visiting both of our families. Kylan and Sierra had a fun birthday party. We were glad we could come. The kids just couldn't get enough of Madi. Trevor is feeling sick today. I think it is due to swimming so much in the cold water. The kids talked him into swimming in March. Actually he didn't need much persuading, he was the first one in.

Fashion Show

Today I was trying to pack for our trip to Arizona and I realized it was going to be really warm there. So I decided to try a few things out of Madi's closet that she hasn't worn yet. We ended up having our own little fashion show. She is so funny. She loves getting dressed because it tickles her neck when I put anything over her head. After every little outfit, I would take her to the bathroom to look in the mirror and she would just crack up. She especially liked the red outfit; I think she liked the vibrant colors.
