The Negotiation.

We're not trying to jinx anything because we haven't officially got the money yet, but we decided to splurge due to selling our house. I jokingly said I wanted a new ipod when we were at the mall last night. About twenty mintes later, Summer said, "I know what I want in exchange for you getting an ipod." A new expensive diaper bag with a weird name that she's been wanting since before Madi was. It's like Petunia Pickleyourbottom. Anyways, Summer is a good negotiator because she'll actually get my old ipod as well.Friday, February 23, 2007
Madi Check Up
Madi just had a check-up at the doctor's office today so I thought I would update everyone. These are the current stats:
3 1/2 months old
16 lbs 10 ounces--95th percentile
24.5 inches--75th percentile
I dont remember her head measurement but it was in the 50th percentile.
Also, she is trying to roll over but hasn't mastered it yet. Her newest trick is when she stands up on daddy's hands.

10 Things I Love About Madilyn

10. She is a good eater. She still breastfeeds but will take a bottle or binky no problem.
9. She is so cute. People say she looks just like her Dad who I think is cute too.
8. She thinks I'm funny and laughs at me when I am silly.
7. She is so chubby. Aren't chubby babies the best?
6. She has the most kissable cheeks. See #7.
5. She is an easy going baby. I can pretty much take her anywhere.
4. She is so happy and loves to play.
3. She is sleeping through the night (almost).
2. She loves to cuddle.
1. She loves me.

Ain't She Sweet?

Madi had her first taste of a Fudgesicle yesterday and she loved it. As you can see, most of it got on her face and not in her mouth. Also she is a little wiggler lately. She hasn't rolled over yet but she can scoot herself around pretty good. In the picture she was sitting up in her stroller but a few minutes later she was kickin back with her feet up.

Repent or Perish!!!

After church about a month ago, we saw this man preaching to us about how we are all going to Hell and that Joseph Smith is a liar. It was kind of a strange sight after coming out of church. Now he doesn't step foot on our property, but as you can tell he is within a step of the church's lawn. We asked someone about him and we found out that he is there every Sunday (and he has been). We finally remembered our camera to share this not so pleasant experience with you all. Makes me kind of sad for him. Last week the missionaries were talking to him, but apparently he didn't change his opinion towards us.

Scrabble Champ as well!!!

If any of you are wondering why I am blogging about an ordinary game of scrabble, I'd like to draw your attention to the lower left-hand corner where you can see that QUADRATIC was played. Derrick I know you would appreciate this. For all who aren't regulars at scrabble, you only get 7 letters so I had to first play Quad with a triple word score and then the next turn I added ratic to the equation, no pun intended. And yes my father played the word SEX right above it.

Train Game Heard Round The World
On Saturday we had an international game of Ticket to ride(www.ticket2ridegame.com) via the internet. From Portland (Trevor) to Phoenix(Mom) to Philly(Ty) to China(Dad). It was pretty cool. Dad was 30 minutes from church Sun. morning. Ty was getting ready to go bowling Sat evening and Mom and I weren't doing a thing Sat afternoon. For all of those interested Portland has the best train track builders in the world apparently!!

We miss eating out!
So I hate to admit that Trevor and I were pretty much used to eating out on a regular basis (I would say at least four times a week) before we moved here. We would go to a nicer restaurant about once a week too for date night. We are trying to be thrifty and more health conscious by eating at home but we are having such a hard time breaking the habit, especially the pop. We went to the grocery store and spent over $1oo which is a lot for us and the food was gone in about a week. We were shocked, we usually spent maybe $60 at the store and it would last two weeks or until we ran out of milk. I guess that's what happens when you actually eat at home for all three meals each day. When we do get fast food or go to a restaurant we really savor it. It's like a drug and we are the addicts. It's so hard not to cheat. However, I am bitter that Oregon doesn't have Sonic, Chic fil A, or In N Out Burger; three of my favorite places to eat.

Madi's tramatic day.

Luckily Madi will not remember today for the rest of her life. She had three shots, an oral immunization, and her ears pierced all in one day. She was pretty good for all of it. She only cried for a second at each thing. Mommy wanted little gold ball generic studs, but Daddy wanted her to have some bling. Tough to see in the pic, but they're QZ studs in white gold. She's so cute.

Our Little Snow Angel

Madi and I woke up to this lovely snow this morning and just had to go out and play in it. Portland rarely gets snow so it was quite a big deal around here. School was cancelled so there are kids running around our complex playing in the snow and making snowmen. Trevor and I are getting used to the weather and lifestyle of the student life. I am feeling a little bit claustrophobic but it is so cold here I don't want to go outside. Brrr!!!

Santa Clause is coming ...
Madi got to visit Santa at our ward's Christmas party on Friday. She looked so cute in her little Christmas outfit. Santa was our good friend Alex in the ward and he was probably the youngest and skinniest Santa ever. I'm sure Madilyn will get lots of presents this year. We also posted her stretching. She loves to sleep stretched out, not bound up like most babies. Then when she wakes up she stretches out some more. She also loves her baths now. She cried the first few times but now she is so relaxed and just loves the water. Also she loves to lay in her crib and look around at the stuffed animals in her crib. She doesn't actually sleep in there yet except for naps sometimes but we are hoping to transition her in there when we get to Portland.

Changes

Just a quick update of our lives. We are moving on Jan 1st and 3rd. Dad and I are going to drive the truck and Summer and Madi will fly up on the 3rd. We sold our Sentra and we're still trying to sell our house. We got our apartment in Portland all set up and there is at least one young LDS family that lives there because the wife is the property Manager. We met the husband when we visited a few months back. Any ways, we are looking forward to spending a lot of time with family before we go on our 3 year expensive adventure to the NorthWest. Madi continues to grow and is looking pretty healthy if you know what I mean.

She's growing like a weed!

Sorry it's been so long since I have blogged. The days just fly by as a new Mom. It has been a lot of fun being Madi's mom. Just getting her ready for the day or giving her a bath are the big moments of the day. She is a good eater which I am so grateful for. She was 8 pounds 12 ounces at her two week visit. The doctor was so happy that she had more than gained back her birth weight. Also she grew 2 inches. I feel like she is already growing up so fast. Trevor and I swear that she can smile, see the picture below. And the other picture is of her first real bath.
